Our February meeting held on Monday Feb 10 attracted 17 members of the public – a record for regular monthly meeting! In every meeting there is a section near the beginning for anyone to speak on an issue of concern and last night subjects raised included traffic congestion at the roundabout near Burford Bridge, our village footpaths, pot holes in Upper End , speeding through the village and concerns of some residents who would be affected by the proposal to build 4 new houses on land off Meadow End. On that issue the council listened carefully to the issues raised and noted that there have been 10 objection raised so far with WODC. The development has already been granted outline planning permission and the discussion last night was about the detail of how concerns about aspects of the plan could be mitigated. Council voted unanimously to oppose the application in its current form and will draw the attention of WODC to concerns ranging from road access to health and safety worries for children using the play park during the construction period and its ecological impact. It’s truly heartening when a community comes together to voice concerns about grass roots issues. Don’t forget our meetings are open to all and will usually be on the third Monday of the month. The next one will be on March 17. We still have one vacancy on the council so if you would like to play a part do get in touch for an informal chat – malcolm.allsop@fulbrookparishcouncil.gov.uk
